If Dry Brushing Leaves You a Little Dry
Do you dry brush? Dry brushing is the most common at-home method of promoting lymphatic drainage. The problem is, it doesn't always feel great. It may leave you and your skin a little red and a little irritated or, if you are like me, thinking you couldn't possibly do this every single day. My skin is super sensitive and dry brushing leaves me feeling a little, . . well, dry. And no, I never "just get used to it."
Still, stimulating your lymphatic system to work more efficiently is a goal we should all have. The body's lymphatic system is the foundation of your immune system because it acts like a garbage collector, constantly sweeping immune cells through you body to eliminate anything that threatens your health. This system reaches every aspect of your body because every cell is bathed in its fluid. The tricky thing about it, and probably the reason it has not received more attention in the medical community, is that the scientific community hasn't figured out how to measure it - - when your lymph flow is optimum and when it is low - - or how to control it. A good guess is that, the worse you feel, the more pain, bloated, foggy, disconnected from your body and, worst of all, ill, the more likely you are to be in a state of low flow. And living in this state of low flow can have serious consequences. A 2002 article published by NIH states that 15% of breast cancer patients had impaired lymphatic drainage before treatment or lymph node removal. This and other research suggests that an impaired lymphatic system may play a role in the development of breast, and possibly other, cancers and further supports the proposition that improving lymphatic drainage and lymphatic health may help prevent these cancers.
Because of my belief in the importance of lymphatic health and my inability to self-massage or dry brush daily, I invented something to make it easier, faster, and far more luxurious to boost my lymphatic flow. The DEMA is a first of its kind, patented, FDA registered medical lymphatic drainage device to promote lymphatic flow and alleviate the symptoms of lymphedema. It was invented to give individuals a personal, handheld lymphatic drainage device with which they could optimize the functioning of their lymphatic system by boosting the flow of lymph through the body to expedite the removal of toxins and other unwanted materials.
